Who We Are
River Road is a vibrant trio rooted in New England, blending the timeless spirit of traditional folk with a fresh, contemporary energy. Their music flows with the elegance of Sarah-Hadley’s fiddle, the rich textures of Kristen’s piano, flute, and accordion and the anchoring of Jesse’s mandolin, guitar, and foot percussion. Whether drawing in dancers or enchanting listeners, River Road’s music is a captivating journey, steeped in tradition.
Our Name
River Road is a winding way tucked between Sugarloaf Mountain and the Connecticut River in South Deerfield, Massachusetts. In 2022 when the band formed, the members lived on opposite ends of the road and enjoyed the trip to visit and rehearse. From River Road you can see the seasons change up on the Pocomtuck Ridge, belted Galloway cows grazing, and nesting bald eagles that have lived on an island in the Connecticut River for years. When considering what to call our trio, we chose the name of the road that we take to get to each other.
